Artifact : Designed Coding examples and solutions guide
Coding examples and assignment Standards AECT : 3.6 & 4.4
Description: During the spring and summer semesters of 2014, I created and designed coding examples and assignments for teaching the programming language Hopscotch to 150 freshmen students, with guidance and mentoring from Dr. David D. Carbonara as one of the required courses, GDIT 703: Independent Study.
Goal: The goal of this was to design coding examples and a solutions guide to help students while practicing hands-on activities with Hopscotch.
Expectation: I expected the assignment to provide an opportunity to advance my teaching experience.
Reflection: After creating and designing coding examples and assignments for pre-service teachers, I feel that I am more knowledgeable about training, designing, developing, and assessing the teaching of a coding techniques, strategies, and hands-on activities to undergraduate students. Before that, I was not able to integrate coding examples and assignments effectively in classroom. It increased my creating and designing skill level for diverse backgrounds freshmen students. I will encourage my prospective students to design their own examples and assignments based on content areas they are interested in.
