Description: During the fall semester of 2013, I wrote a term project paper as an assignment conducted by instructor Dr. Nihat Polat for one of the elective courses GESL 510: Theories and Practice of Second Language Learning.

Goal: The goal of this term project was to conduct SLA research that involves data collection and analysis with research questions, methodologies, and findings.

Expectation: The expectation was to select one of the SLA ESL topics of my interest and read at least 10 literature reviews and analyze them.

Reflection: My thoughts about motivation teaching second language acquisition were impacted by the Term Project that I had done throughout Fall semester. After completing Term Project, I feel that I am more knowledgeable about assessing motivation and evaluating process a wider and broader spectrum of learning second language theories now I can understand the connection between practice and theory of second language learning. I went through literature review of the topic. I picked motivation as a variable as it related to the acquisition of one specific L2 skill aspects of vocabulary. I reviewed ten journal articles and conference papers. I compared why and how they were different from others and analyzed the similarities among them. I wrote five pages as a reference paper in American Psychological Association (APA) format. I will design my lectures based on motivation factor for my prospective students to increase their performance and extrinsic motivation while teaching second language acquisition.
