SLA Research Project Presentation

Artifact : SLA Research Project

SLA Project Presentation                   Standards AECT : 5.3

Description: During the fall semester of 2013, I completed an SLA research project as an assignment by instructor Dr. Nihat Polat for one of the elective courses GESL 510: Theories and Practice of Second Language Learning.

Goal: The goal of this research project was to know how to read and evaluate conference papers and journal articles. After reading them, I analyzed SLA research with research questions, methodologies, and findings.

Expectation: I selected one of the SLA/ESL topics of my interest and read ten literature reviews and analyzed them.

Reflection: Although, I had presented prior to this presentation. I found that this activity increased my performance of presenting in traditional classroom. It provided the chance for me to learn about resources. I chose one topic that I was interested in and that was related to my dissertation. I went through literature review of the topic. I picked motivation as a variable as it related to the acquisition of one specific L2 skill aspects of vocabulary. I reviewed ten journal articles and conference papers. I compared why and how they were different from others and analyzed the similarities among them. I wrote five pages as a reference paper in American Psychological Association (APA) format.
