Artifact : Educational Use of video Games in the ESL Classroom
Educational Use of Video Games in the ESL Classroom AECT Standards : 5.2
Description: During the spring semester of 2014, I presented Chapters 18, 32, and 33 and formed a discussion section with peers as an assignment by Instructor Dr. Marie Martin for one of the required synchronous courses, GDIT 711: Distance Learning Global Leadership Seminar.
Goal: The goal of facilitation was to talk about the research interest topic, the educational use of video games in the ESL classroom, and to engage in peer discussion and other interaction.
Expectation: The expected outcome was to share my research with my peers and instructor and lead the discussion.
Reflection: I had been presented a session at Colleges many times, but it was the first time I presented to my peers. After presenting, “Instructional Gaming – Exploring Social & Cognitive Benefits for ESL Learners” to instructors, I feel that I am more knowledgeable about a wider and broader spectrum of ways for it to benefit a classroom of ESL learners.I prepared slides for my presentation and explored methods, evaluated literature reviews, e-resources, websites, and videos. I conducted a presentation and led the discussion environments and answered questions of peers and the instructor. I presented this presentation as a facilitator in Distance Learning Global Leadership Seminar. I will encourage my students to present topic that related with their interest to enhance practice presenting and improve their thesis, dissertation.
