Description:  During the spring semester of 2013, my and my colleagues’ paper “Bridging the Digital Gap: A Conversation on Uniting BYOD and Instruction in the Higher Education Classroom” was accepted by Virginia Tech Higher Education Pedagogy and was presented, under the guidance of mentors Dr. David D. Carbonara and Dr. Misook Heo as a requirement of Instructional Technology and Leadership Doctoral Program in Duquesne University.

Goal: The goal of this project was to understand the importance of BYOD in today’s classroom settings and how to integrate devices in the classroom environment.

Expectation: The expected outcome was to learn the conference paper process: writing a proposal, submitting a proposal, and presenting it at a conference.

Reflection: I was not familiar with submitting proposal to the Conference Committee and presenting the paper at the conference before this Conference. My peers and professors mentioned about it prior to this process and had an opportunity to write proposal. After writing, submitting paper and accepting to present, I now understood the process of conference papers. I finished the project during the spring semester. I will support and guide my prospective students submit their conference papers to increase their researching skills and develop their ability to present their work.
