Artifact: Instructional Gaming – Exploring Social & Cognitive Benefits for ESL Learners
Description: During the summer semester of 2014, I presented a session, “Instructional Gaming – Exploring Social & Cognitive Benefits for ESL Learners” to instructors at the Summer Faculty Institute of CCAC.
Goal: The goal of this session was to emphasize the best practices of instructional gaming techniques and the variety of ways for it to benefit a classroom of ESL learners.
Expectation: The expected outcome was to present a session at the Summer Faculty Institute.
Reflection: I presented the session to instructors at the Summer Faculty Institute and discussed the benefits with break-out groups. I had been presented a session at Colleges many times, but it was the first time I presented related with my dissertation. After presenting, “Instructional Gaming – Exploring Social & Cognitive Benefits for ESL Learners” to instructors, I feel that I am more knowledgeable about a wider and broader spectrum of ways for it to benefit a classroom of ESL learners. I will encourage my students to present topic that related with their interest to improve their thesis, dissertation, and presenting skills.
