Artifact : Correlation Project
Correlation Project Standards AECT : 1.3 & 5.2
Description: During the spring semester of 2013, the Correlation Project was finished and presented in the classroom, as one of the required face-to-face courses: GREV 610: Educational Statistics II, instructed by Dr. Gibbs Y. Kanyongo.
Goal: The goal of this statistical research project was to investigate whether there is any correlation between the unemployment rate and the number of undocumented immigrants, and draw a conclusion using secondary data.
Expectation: The expected outcome was to find secondary data, run an analysis by SPSS, analyze the conclusion, interpret the results, and present the findings in the classroom.
Reflection: Before beginning this project, I was not familiar with Correlation in Statistics. I had heard of it in previous classes, but had never fully understood what it was used for. After completing the project, I now understood this research methodology and can better used it to solve problems. I finished the project during the spring semester. The results showed that there is a positive correlation between the unemployment rate and the number of undocumented immigrants. I will support and guide my prospective students whilst applying my previous knowledge and skills.
